Vulnerable - detail, heart
Acrylic on canvas. The following dialogue between God and myself is about this painting (Vulnerable): God: Vulnerability is good. That is in part what your painting is about. Sondra: What does the centipede mean? God: It represents your vulnerability. It clings to you. You cannot cast away your vulnerability; it is like a second spine. Sondra: And the eye heart is “seeing with the heart?” God: Yes, and so much more. You think you enlarged the heart because it was easier to paint that way, but not so, Sondra. And it is centered in your body not for compositional purposes. Your large heart needs to outpace, out-beat your mind, your brain. You need to develop your heart muscles. In your case, an enlarged heart will make you more vulnerable—but not to death—to life! It is placed in the center of your being. Sondra: Tell me about the sky, why it’s broken up, like patchwork, instead of smooth and soothing. God: Ah, the sky is your soul. Made of many pieces of light. Your sky gives off a “piece-full” feeling.
